EXPERIENCE

LOS ANGELES TIMES, Los Angeles, California

Senior Features Writer - March 2007 to May 2025

  •  Took readers along on deep-dive explorations of the World Beard & Moustache Championships, Seth Rogen’s 567-piece vintage ashtray collection, drug-free psychedelic trips, the storied history of Vans footwear and Cheech & Chong’s return to the silver screen after a 40-year hiatus.

  •  Wrote a range of utility-driven stories about how to navigate life in Southern California. Topics included how to hack the traffic at the Hollywood Bowl, a ranking of the most (and least) walkable L.A. neighborhoods and a humorous first-person account of how to humanely squirrel-proof your backyard. (Spoiler alert: it isn’t exactly easy.)

  • Penned extensively researched travel guides to help readers discover places like the oldest restaurant in Burbank, the Beverly Hills chocolate shop that inspired an “I Love Lucy” episode, the best beaches in L.A. County and the aviation history of Santa Monica.

  • Created and wrote – for 70 consecutive weeks – the L.A. Times’ first-ever weekly news quiz (drawing on a stint writing game show questions) to engage L.A. Times readers with colleagues’ recently published stories.

Style Writer and Assistant Editor - March 2007 to March 2020

  • Wrote profiles of fashion designers including Alexander McQueen, Thom Browne, Jeremy Scott and Rick Owens and crafted a range of style stories including humorous takes on the normcore trend and the subway-riding, six-to-a-room fashion-week life of male runway models. Also covered trends and provided quick-turn, in-depth award-show-season red carpet analysis in print and on camera.

  • Coordinated and generated local, national and international style coverage for a daily print newspaper and website. Coverage ranged from breaking news to reporting on the twice-yearly women’s ready-to-wear fashion shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
